Welcome to Year 1!
My name is Miss Andrew and I am the Year 1 Class Teacher.
The Teaching Assistants during the day are Miss Onions and Mrs Carr.
Our Topics for the year are:
Autumn 1: Would a Dinosaur make a good pet?
Autumn 2: Will the Dreadful Drought ever end?
Spring 1+2: Which pigs house would you feel safest in?
Summer 1: How fantastic is Florence?
Mr Lomas will be teaching the class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons therefore, the children will need their full PE kit in School on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Homework will be given out on a weekly basis on Fridays and needs to be handed in on the following Friday. Five Common Exception Words will be given out weekly on Fridays and they will tested the following Friday. Please continue to listen to your child read regularly and test their times tables knowledge; by the end of Year 1 they should aim to know the 1, 2, 5 and 10 times tables but it would be great if they know more!
Your child will attend five on site Forest School sessions in June. Forest School is an exciting way for children to experience outdoor education in a woodland setting. The sessions will be on Friday afternoons 1.10-2.40pm.
The children will be assessed on the end of year expectations which support the New National Curriculum. To view these please click on the 'Curriculum' tab and click on the 'End of Year Expectations' link.
You are always welcome to discuss any concerns and we do appreciate time spent at home supporting children with their work.
