What does your child learn at school each day? Find information about our curriculum subjects here.
At St Joseph’s Primary School we have developed a topic based curriculum that encourages a love of learning by children and adults alike. Topics are cross curricular and change half termly. Maths, RE and PE will be taught discretely using, the New Curriculum Objectives and the ‘Come and See’ Catholic Scheme of work.
At St Joseph’s there will be a whole school over view of coverage of the New National Curriculum. Each year group will have a long term plan for all subjects of the new national curriculum. They will also have 6 medium term topic webs and 6 core subject planning documents.
All half-termly topics begin with a ‘WOW’ and often will end with a demonstration of the children’s learning e.g: Pirate’s Day, Greek day and this may involve the parents/carers of St Joseph’s.
All staff are required to demonstrate the learning experiences across the year on our school website, this will include all 6 topics, special days and extra curricular activities etc.
Curriculum Leaders ensure that each curriculum area is delivered in a stimulating, productive and inclusive way by developing a yearly action plan relating to the SIP(School Improvement Plan). It is the responsibilty of the Curriculum Leaders to monitor year group data, check progress, share knowledge and resources and monitor teaching, learning and assessment through a range of methods.
